I've always enjoyed finding different, unconventional ways of looking at the patterns and shapes of objects. Whilst I was studying art at A-Level, I discovered the patterns and colours that could be found when a piece of fruit is cut in the middle so I really wanted to convey this in at least one of the paintings.
The reason I chose a strawberry is because if you put the two halves side-by-side, the shape resembles a heart (although it is unclear in this particular painting).
Chelz Franzer is an artist I looked at for inspiration when creating this piece.
